Last Wednesday the Air Safety Foundation traveling seminar series, "What Went Wrong" came to town. Craig S - still on a roll after digging up ancient magazines, went to the seminar at the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle. An inspiring way to spend an evening - reviewing airplane accidents. We have several recent CFI's in Cascade Flyers with social lives so busy they were not able to attend this seminar.
Well, for you new CFI's and the rest of us - as luck would have it, Craig kindly summarized the salient points for us very succinctly.
Craig starts off by saying, "nothing better than spending two hours listening to how other pilots got themselves killed. I guess it's just a reminder of how unforgiving flying can be to errors in judgment."
And here are the KEY LESSONS as summarized by Craig -
1) Don't be stupid
2) Be very wary of ice
3) Don't let technology make you complacent
4) Always fly the airplane to the ground
5) Know emergency procedures
6) Don't be stupid
There you have it!
By the way - a great winter weather activity - visit the awesome Museum of Flight at KBFI!
